Biography

Rick began riding in 1972 in Nebraska and South Dakota where he competed in a full range of competitions which included: dressage, hunter/jumpers, eventing, barrel racing, Quarter Horse rated shows and Buckskin rated shows. Traveling the Mid-West competing his Buckskin Quarter Horse mare, Rick gained extensive national exposure at a young age. He won the national barrel racing title on his mare two consecutive years in 1979 (Indiana) and 1980 (Iowa).

Upon moving to Georgia in 1980, Rick began competing in Eventing and progressed through the levels to Advanced on his horse Ultimate Trial (Lexy). Purchased as a three year old from the Gosch Family in Newnan Georgia in 1985, Rick and Lexy went on to be named United States Equestrian Federations Zone IV Intermediate Horse of the Year in 1989 and 1990 and Advanced Horse of the Year in 1991. Rick and Lexy competed at the National and International 3-Day Events such as: Radnor, Essex, North Georgia, Fair Hill and Kentucky Rolex. They were long listed for the 1991 Pan Am Team and the 1992 Olympics.

Through his years of Eventing, Rick competed heavily in dressage and the hunter/jumpers. He has trained with Gary Rockwell, Manfred Lewis, Rockavonski, Ann Tishurst, Jimmy Woffard, Jon Holling, Peter Gray, Joey Darby and others. His lifelong experience in the equestrian world has helped Wallace develop a strong understanding of the importance of horsemanship.

Rick’s experience has given him great training and instruction abilities which he contributes to his daughter, Elisa Wallace’s great success in Eventing. She was the youngest Medal MACLAY participant in 1995 at the age of 12. Elisa benefited from the well rounded education in the different disciplines and has gained national exposure as an up and coming Event rider. She was long-listed for the 2007 Pan Am Games, 2008 Olympics and 2010 World Championships. Elisa was named on the 2007 USEF Developing Rider List and is still actively competing to make an international team.

Wallace is the President/Owner of TeamWallace, LLC. An equestrian company that he and his daughter work together to develop competition horses, a breeding program, sponsorship programs and horse show series. Rick is an active competitor in eventing and is competing at the Preliminary level.
